Mohare Danda is a community-owned trekking route in the Annapurna foothills, developed and run by the villages along the trail. Every lodge is collectively managed, and profits fund local schools and health posts rather than outside operators.
The walking is gentle, the ridge views of Dhaulagiri and Annapurna are excellent, and the trail sees a fraction of the traffic on nearby Poon Hill.
Trip Highlights
- Community-owned eco-lodges funding local schools and health posts
- Sunrise over Dhaulagiri and Annapurna South from Mohare Danda (3,300m)
- Traditional Magar villages rarely visited by trekkers
- Rhododendron forest and terraced hill farmland
- A genuinely quiet alternative to the Poon Hill circuit
- Gentle daily walking suitable for most fitness levels
