Kanchenjunga sits in Nepal's far north-east on the border with Sikkim, and at 8,586m it is the third-highest mountain on earth. The trek to its northern base camp at Pangpema is the most remote of Nepal's major routes and sees a tiny fraction of the traffic of Everest or Annapurna.
This is a genuine expedition. Lodges are basic, the days are long, and you will go for stretches without seeing another trekking group.
