Sankhu is one of the oldest Newar settlements in the valley, sitting at its north-eastern corner on the former trade route to Tibet. Above the town is the Bajrayogini temple complex, reached by a long stone stairway through forest.
From there the trail continues climbing to the Nagarkot ridge, so the day takes you from medieval town to Himalayan viewpoint on foot.
