Dhulikhel Namo Buddha Hiking

1 Day

This is the classic approach to Namobuddha, walking in from Dhulikhel rather than driving to the gate. The trail leaves the old Newar town at 1,550m and crosses farmland and Tamang settlements before climbing gently to the monastery.

Arriving on foot changes the experience: the stupa appears gradually above the terraces rather than all at once from a car park.

Trip Highlights

  • The traditional walking approach to Namobuddha
  • Dhulikhel old town and its Himalayan viewpoint
  • Tamang villages and terraced hillsides throughout
  • Thrangu Tashi Yangtse monastery at the destination
  • Gentle gradients suitable for most walkers
  • Ganesh Himal and Langtang visible on clear days
