Nagarjun is the forested hill immediately north-west of Kathmandu, protected as part of Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park. The trail climbs from the Balaju gate to Jamacho, a stupa on the summit ridge at around 2,128m.
It is the most accessible real climb from the city: you can be walking in forest within thirty minutes of leaving Thamel.
