Nagarkot Dhulikhel Hiking

1 Day

This ridge walk links the valley's two best-known viewpoints. You begin at Nagarkot and follow the eastern rim south to Dhulikhel, staying high for most of the day with the Himalaya on your left and the Kathmandu Valley falling away on your right.

It is the longest of our valley day hikes and the one that feels most like a proper trek, without ever leaving reach of a road.

Trip Highlights

  • Continuous Himalayan views along the eastern valley rim
  • Two classic viewpoints, Nagarkot and Dhulikhel, in one day
  • Ridge-top walking rather than a valley approach
  • Chhetri and Tamang villages rarely seen by visitors
  • A genuine six to seven hour hike close to Kathmandu
  • Finishes in Dhulikhel, a good place for late lunch
